Guidelines for Disciplinary Action Announcement
The National Police Agency has enacted "Guidelines for Announcement of Disciplinary Actions" to clarify the criteria for disciplinary cases as specified in the "Police Reform Guidelines".
The Akita Prefectural Police will apply these guidelines mutatis mutandis for the announcement of disciplinary action.
Guidelines for Disciplinary Action Announcement
- Purpose of guidelines
The guidelines stipulate the types of disciplinary actions to be made, the timing of the announcements, etc., so that the police can provide timely and appropriate disciplinary actions to prevent the recurrence of similar cases, ensure proper execution of duties, and maintain business ethics. The purpose is to contribute to the public's trust in the police.
- Type of disciplinary action to make announcement
Announce the following disciplinary measures.
- Disciplinary actions relating to performance of duties and related activities.
- Disciplinary action relating to personal acts, including suspension or higher.
- Disciplinary actions deemed appropriate to announce in order to ensure the public's trust in consideration of the behavior of the act, the effects of the act on and outside public affairs, the duties of the staff, etc., in addition to those listed in 1 and 2.
- Presentation content and timing
- Disciplinary action shall be announced promptly after disciplinary action regarding the outline of the case, the date and details of the action, etc., unless otherwise specified.
In this case, we will take the necessary precautions to protect the privacy and other rights and interests of the staff, victims and other stakeholders. - Announcement exception
In the case of disciplinary actions falling under item 2, if there is no choice but to protect the privacy and other rights and interests of the victim and other related parties, no announcement will be made.
- Announcement of disciplinary measures concerning supervision responsibility
Disciplinary measures relating to supervisory responsibilities related to disciplinary actions falling under 2 and other supervisory measures will be announced after applying 3 mutatis mutandis.
