Since 2021, the Traffic Planning Division has appointed freelance announcer Shiori Aiba as the "Akita Traffic Safety Ambassador" every year. She has been calling for traffic safety at every opportunity, and working in cooperation with the prefectural police to hold various events, and has been working diligently on public awareness activities to realize a safe and secure Akita Prefecture free from traffic accidents.
• Activity status in July 2026
- On July 10th, we presented a letter of appreciation to freelance announcer Shiori Aiba in recognition of her service as the "Akita Traffic Safety Ambassador" since 2021, and also appointed her to the position again this year.
- On July 10th, NEXCO East Japan Akita Branch and the Akita Prefectural Police Highway Patrol jointly conducted a campaign at Akita Minami Interchange to urge drivers of vehicles passing through the area to wear seat belts in all seats.
- On July 10th, I visited Sakuranoen Day Rehabilitation Center in Akita City and gave a lecture to elderly residents on important points to remember when crossing the road, using individual safety education equipment.
- On July 10th, I visited Akita Prefectural Akita High School and, together with the school's broadcasting club, recorded audio about the summer traffic safety campaign and the importance of wearing bicycle helmets, in order to raise awareness of the importance of wearing helmets.
• Activity status in September 2025
- On September 28th, they participated in the Zero Traffic Accident Project Festa held at Aeon Mall Akita, where they delivered a traffic safety message to the citizens of the prefecture and performed a traffic safety skit together with police officers.
• Activity status in July 2025
- On July 17th, we visited Kamikitade Elementary School and Sakura Elementary School in Akita City and presented them with GIS maps that analyzed traffic accidents during the summer holidays. At Kamikitade Elementary School, we conducted a traffic safety class, including a traffic safety skit, together with police officers.
• Activity status in May 2025
- On May 23rd, we visited Kakunodate High School in Akita Prefecture, where we presented them with a certificate designating them as a model school for safe bicycle use, and also gave students a lecture on traffic safety, including important points to keep in mind when using bicycles.
• Activity status in April 2025
- On April 4th, we appointed freelance announcer Shiori Aiba as the "Akita Traffic Safety Ambassador" for this fiscal year, continuing from last year.
- On April 4th, they participated in the launch ceremony for the Spring National Traffic Safety Campaign, where they called on the citizens of the prefecture to prioritize traffic safety.
- On April 4th, we visited Kirara Nursery School and other facilities in Akita City and conducted safety classes for the children.
- On April 17th, we visited Akita Prefectural Akita Chuo High School and presented them with a certificate designating them as a model school for safe bicycle use. We also urged students to be mindful of safety precautions when using bicycles.
• Activity status in December 2024
- On December 11th, we visited Akita Municipal Taihei Elementary School in collaboration with Akita Higashi Police Station and conducted a traffic safety class.
- On December 16th, at the Akita Central Police Station, I was appointed as a one-day police chief for the Akita Traffic Safety Ambassador, and visited Shirayuri Nursery School, a social welfare corporation in Akita City, to raise awareness about the correct use of seat belts and child safety seats.
