A system for issuing traffic violation notices to cyclists has been implemented since April 1st.

*The term "bicycle" here refers to a "regular bicycle."

Bicycles are classified as "light vehicles" and are considered a type of vehicle.

As a general rule, you must travel on the left side of the road.

1. When it is possible to travel on the sidewalk.

In the following cases, bicycles may travel on the sidewalk:

(1) When road signs and markings indicate that it is permissible to travel on the sidewalk.

(2) When a person under 13 years of age, a person 70 years of age or older, or a person with a certain physical disability is driving.

(3) In light of the roadway or traffic conditions, if it is unavoidable for bicycles to travel on the sidewalk in order to ensure the safety of bicycle traffic

When it is recognized

2. Rules for walking on sidewalks

When cycling on the sidewalk, you must proceed slowly on the part of the sidewalk closer to the road, rather than in the center.

It must be done.

Furthermore, if a bicycle's progress obstructs pedestrian traffic, it must come to a complete stop.

* Slowing down means proceeding at a speed that allows you to stop immediately.
