Request about prevention of traffic accident of elderly person

Night road reflectors that protect you

The sunset is getting faster with more days, but it is a time when many traffic fatal accidents occur while the elderly are crossing the road from dusk to night.

The Prefectural Police calls for light-up in the early hours before sunset, spreads and uses luminous reflectors that are effective from dusk to night, and lights up when there is no preceding car or oncoming vehicle at night. We will develop exercises to encourage the traffic and prevent traffic accidents during the night from dusk.

Preventing traffic accidents at night
To pedestrians
  • When you go out, wear light-colored clothing and luminous reflective materials.
  • Attach luminous reflective materials to your belongings, such as shoes, hats, bags, and umbrellas, to let them know you are there.
  • When crossing the road, make sure that no cars are coming.
For bicycle users
  • Put a luminous reflector on the bicycle where it can be seen from the front and back and from the side.
  • Make sure the lights are on.
  • At intersections, cross with caution when turning left or right.
For drivers
  • Turn on the light early and switch between upward and downward diligently.
  • If there is no preceding vehicle or oncoming vehicle, drive up the lights.
  • Drive at a speed that allows you to stop safely within light range.
